A trademark is available for names, words, symbols, or devices. It is used by manufacturers or providers to identify their goods and services. If the trademark is associated with a service, then it can also be called a service mark. The main reason of a trademark is to protect the brand identity and to help companies and people to distinguish from other similar goods or services in the industry.

If a trademark needs to be filled in the UAE, then it has to be done with an application to the Ministry of Economy & Commerce. If it gets approved upon the necessary action taken by the ministry, the trademark registration needs to be published in two leading National newspapers. This will give the public access and will inform them of such a trademark, in case there are any objections.
